A British Citizen happily settled in Gibraltar I have been asked on many occasions “ooooo Gibraltar, What’s it like?”
I can of course only answer this question from my own perspective, although I am pretty sure that I am not alone in my findings. For me there are many wonderful things about Gibraltar that I think many of us frequently take for granted. First and foremost, Gibraltar is safe. Gibraltar is a wonderful place for families and people to raise their children. With excellent schools and a gazillion after school activities – many of which are subsidised by the government, Gibraltar is a truly exceptional place for families from all walks of life. Another huge plus for sporting and active folks who are looking to relocate to Gibraltar is not just the availability of the facilities and activities but the weather. Now, as a good old fashioned British girl, I love a chat about the weather. Its one of our favourite topics. The wonderful weather here pretty much guarantees being able to play all sorts of sports and games nearly 12 months of the year, even in the winter months it rarely drops below 10 degrees Celsius at night with most days being around the 15–17-degree mark. Yep, that’s winter. If you are in the market for some winter sports Sierra Nevada is only a 3-hour drive away with some great skiing, views, hotels and obviously FOOD! I do believe that there is something for everyone here and specifically, if you are British, the language is hugely helpful and, of course, the currency.
These are very practical, ‘catalogue’ type attractions that I speak of. For me one of the most wonderful things about Gibraltar is the people, the sense of community, the friendliness and the warm accommodating nature of the locals. Perhaps it’s the great weather, stunning views and super food that keep everyone so cheerful down here, whatever it is, cheerful they are. This kind of vibe is infectious, as is the lifestyle. Gibraltar is small (and hilly) which means that often it is quicker and easier to walk everywhere, it’s a great way to contribute to one’s 10,000 steps a day and a wonderful thing for children. They are safe and they are active, and they walk to and from school. A wonderful sense of community, you can’t help but feel it from the moment you arrive. Meeting people here will never be a problem with an abundance of bars, restaurants, cafes and hundreds of networking events for every industry, every week, Gibraltar is a country, a town and a community that welcomes growth and interaction and opportunities.
With a thriving Financial Centre (especially post grey list), booming e-gaming industry and expanding Insurance sector, Gibraltar really is thriving and with so much to offer how can she be ignored. So when considering a move, a brighter future, a better work-life balance, somewhere safe to raise your family and less commuting, perhaps opening a business in Gibraltar is the move to be making….. another reason why there are so many regulated Trust and Company Management firms here in Gibraltar, one for every client and every need. Surely Gibraltar is not to be overlooked.
